Finding Your Way to the Qualcomm Institute
HERUG 2025's home base will be the Qualcomm Institute, located in Atkinson Hall on the UC San Diego campus at the corner of Voigt Drive and Equality Lane; the building address is 3195 Voigt Drive, La Jolla, CA 92093.
Please take note of the various ways to arrive at the UC San Diego campus and find our venue. The drawers below include specific links you may find useful, and you can always visit the UC San Diego Transportation Services site for a comprehensive overview.
Once on-campus you may make use of shuttles, shared bikes and scooters and more; get details via Triton Transit.
Driving Directions to Hopkins Parking Stucture
- Take I-5
- Exit Genessee Avenue
- Head west - From the I-5 North, it would be a left turn; I-5 south would be a right merge
- Turn Left onto North Torrey Pines Road
- Turn Left onto Northpoint Drive
- Continue on Northpoint Drive - Northpoint Drive turns into Hopkins Drive
- Entrance to the Hopkins parking structure is on the right after the second stop sign
Walking Directions from Hopkins Parking Structure to Qualcomm Institute
- Exit Hopking parking structure and head east on Voigt Drive
- Atkinson Hall is located on the south side of Voigt Drive, adjacent to the P503 parking lot and across the street from Franklin Antonio Hall
- The Qualcomm Institute is located inside of Atkinson Hall
Parking
All HERUG attendees are encouraged to carpool, use rideshare services, or explore alternative transportation methods. For those interested in parking, take note of the various options:
HERUG 2025 won't be reserving or managing parking, but we'll do our best to provide directional signage from the recommended lot listed below. In addition to the parking options listed above, more information can be found on the Visit Campus and Get Around Campus pages of the UC San Diego Transportation Services web site.
Hopkins Parking Structure
The Hopkins lot is closest to our event at the Qualcomm Institute (located in Atkins Hall). Be advised that parking fills up quickly and early.

Rideshare services will be automatically directed to designated Passenger Loading Zones. There are two recommended locations in close proximity to the Qualcomm Institute (located in Atkins Hall). Depending on the service you use the destination input may vary slightly.
- Geisel Loop dropoff: Input UCSD Hopkins Parking. Depending on the service you may be presented a dropdown menu; choose Hopkins Lane or Hopkins Parking. The dropoff location can be reached by passing the Hopkins Parking Structure and continuing south on Hopkins Lane (past Voigt Drive) until arriving at the Geisel Loop.
- Warren Equality Lane dropoff: Input the address 9781 Equality Ln, La Jolla, CA 92093.
Trolley
San Diego's Trolley system has been expanded to include several stops on the UC San Diego campus. The UC San Diego Central Campus stop is a 7-10 minute walk to the Qualcomm Institute (located in Atkinson Hall). If you're staying in the campus area the Nobel Drive, Executive Drive and UTC stops on the Blue Line could be viable options. Those staying further afield in Old Town, Mission Valley or Downtown may also benefit.
